Guiding Principles
- Participants have the right to choose who may visit them and when.
- All visitors must be respectful of participants’ home and privacy.
- Visitors must not access restricted areas (e.g. other participants’ rooms) without express consent.
- Support workers must use professional judgement to safeguard participant wellbeing during all visits.
- Concerns about any visitor must be documented and escalated to the House Manager promptly.
- This log is a confidential document. It must not be shared without authorisation.
Privacy Notice
Information recorded in this log book is collected to ensure participant safety and regulatory compliance. It is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, and organisational privacy policy. Access is restricted to authorised staff and relevant oversight bodies.
Instructions for Support Workers
- Ask all visitors to sign in upon arrival and sign out upon departure.
- Record the participant each visitor is attending to see.
- Note whether the participant is present and consenting to the visit.
- If a visitor arrives and the participant is unavailable or does not consent, politely ask the visitor to reschedule.
- Record any concerns, incidents, or unusual behaviour in the ‘Comments / Notes’ column and in the incident management system.
- Do not leave an unknown visitor unsupervised in the house.
- Ensure this log book is stored securely at all times.
